FAQ

Answering Your Questions About Our Psychological Services

Outpatient psychotherapy is a process by which a client partners with a caring professional to resolve current psychological issues disrupting the client’s life. The first through third sessions are used to gather vital information and to discuss the problem at hand. This is used to develop and review the treatment plan. Sessions are then held weekly to execute the treatment plan, restore health, and gain additional skills and insights. Towards the end of the therapeutic process, sessions are scheduled less frequently until completion, when the goals completed are reviewed and celebrated.

Simply call our office and state that you would like to schedule a first-time appointment with Dr. Maudlin or another clinician. You will be contacted by someone who will gather some initial intake information. Insurance information can be discussed at this time as well as any questions you may have. We endeavor to match you with the clinician whose expertise is most attuned to your situation.

Each of our therapists schedules his/her own appointments. Following the initial intake call, a therapist will call you within 24 hours to schedule your first appointment. Generally, we try very hard to schedule an appointment with you within a week of your first call. Whenever possible, we will accommodate time-sensitive needs.

Psychotherapy sessions are 45-50 minutes in length.

Therapists schedule their own appointment times which can include evenings and Saturday hours. The business office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., and Saturday from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Yes, Maudlin and Associates provides testing and psychotherapy services for children. When scheduling the first appointment, the therapist will determine who is most appropriate to be seen in the initial session. Typically, information is obtained from parents by the therapist at the initial diagnostic session and then scheduled communication occurs throughout the course of treatment, as needed. The clinician partners with parents of child therapy clients to arrive together at a successful clinical outcome.

We provide testing services for children, adolescents, and adults. Assessment is customized for each client. Testing for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and psychological evaluations are available. Topics for assessment include premarital testing, marital assessment, career assessment, and executive assessment.

At Maudlin and Associates, we realize how deeply personal and often relevant one’s faith tradition and spiritual journey are to the therapeutic work. We may inquire about this aspect of a client’s life, and we integrate faith components if the client wishes to do so. We take a holistic approach to therapy, so during the initial sessions we inquire about the client’s faith, health, relationships, and background. Although most of our therapists have a Christian background, we are dedicated to working with clients from many different faith traditions in a respectful manner.

Yes, Maudlin and Associates accepts Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and Health Deduction Plan cards.

Coverage for services depends on your insurance plan. We advise you to contact your insurance company to obtain a quote of your benefits for mental health services before you visit us for your initial appointment. Please do not hesitate to request our help in determining these benefits. Many insurance plans provide some coverage for psychological services, but coverage will vary in terms of deductibles, co-pays, and number of sessions allowed per year.

We will file claims with insurance companies with whom our clinicians have contracts. If we are not contracted with your insurance company, you are responsible to file your claims and receive reimbursement directly from your insurance company. If needed, we can provide you with the paperwork you will need to accompany your claim form.

Many of our clinicians offer sliding scale fee slots depending on the availability of these times. Specific criteria must be met to qualify for the reduced fees. If we are unable to provide you with adequate and timely service, we will refer you to other agencies that can assist you.
